Στο μεταίχμιο δύο δεκαετιών, τον Σεπτέμβριο του 1990, οι Queensrÿche κυκλοφορούσαν τον τέταρτο "ολοκληρωμένο" δίσκο τους. Ο διάδοχος του δίσκου "Operation: Mindcrime" έφερε τον τίτλο "Empire" και αποτέλεσε το πλέον επιτυχημένο (εμπορικά) album του Αμερικάνικου συγκροτήματος.

Ο δίσκος γνώρισε αρκετές επανακυκλοφορίες με πλέον πρόσφατη την προ τριετίας (το καλοκαίρι του 2021) σε διπλό βινύλιο από την Capitol Records και σε διπλό cd από την Universal Music Japan.
