G3 ονομάσθηκε ένα περιοδεύον μουσικό σχήμα, το οποίο δημιούργησε ο Joe Satriani, ο οποίος είχε την ιδέα να φτιάξει κάτι αντίστοιχο με τους τρεις τενόρους, αλλά με κιθαρίστες (καθότι κιθαρίστας και ο ίδιος). Η πρώτη μορφή του σχήματος, το μακρινό 1996, ήταν με τον Steve Vai και τον Eric Johnson.

Από το εν λόγω μουσικό σχήμα έχουν περάσει τιτάνες της κιθάρας όπως ο Yngwie Malmsteen (το 2003), ο Uli Jon Roth, ο John Petrucci, ο Paul Gilbert, ο Steve Morse, ο Steve Lukather, ο Robert Fripp κλπ. Οι G3 κυκλοφόρησαν τέσσερις ("ζωντανά" ηχογραφημένους) δίσκους από το 1997 έως το 2005.

Είκοσι έτη μετά, στις 31 Ιανουαρίου 2025, οι G3 επιστρέφουν δισκογραφικά με το album "Reunion Live", αποτέλεσμα της φετινής περιοδείας της αρχικής μορφής των G3 (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson) στις ΗΠΑ. Ο δίσκος θα κυκλοφορήσει μέσω της δισκογραφικής εταιρείας earMUSIC σε διπλό cd, τετραπλό βινύλιο και διπλό cd συν τετραπλό βινύλιο!

The G3 tour line up changed over the years, but in 2024, the original G3 reunited for a sold-out run of dates in the US. That experience is embodied in G3 'Reunion Live' (and much more than 'just' a live album).

The format of the tour is mirrored here with a full set from each guitarist with their own band, followed by a full-on jam featuring all three. The individual repertoire is comprised of signature tunes from each guitarist such as Joe's 'Sahara', Steve's 'For the Love of God' and Eric's 'Cliffs of Dover'. The encore jam features covers from the likes of Hendrix and Clapton.»
