Τους Rhapsody τους γνώρισα μέσα από το ντεμπούτο τους ("Legendary Tales"), την εποχή που κυκλοφόρησε (φθινόπωρο 1997). Αργότερα έμαθα για το demo ("Eternal Glory") καθώς και για το demo ("Land of Immortals") των Thundercross, οι οποίοι αποτέλεσαν την πρώιμη μορφή των Rhapsody.

Σπανίως προχωρούσα σε αγορές δίσκων προτού τους ακούσω (εννοώ σε εποχές προ... internet). Έτσι και τούτον τον "τσέκαρα" πρώτα. Πατώντας το play μπαίνει το εισαγωγικό "Ira Tenax" και στο "καπάκι" το τραγούδι "Warrior of Ice"! Πως λέμε "έρωτας με την πρώτη ματιά"; Αυτός ήταν έρωτας με την πρώτη... αυτιά!

Κλασικιστικό, επικολυρικό, νεοκλασικό Euro power metal υψηλατάτων προδιαγραφών! Με ιδέες, μελωδίες, εντυπωσιακές ενορχηστρώσεις και εξαιρετικούς μουσικούς. Ο δίσκος "Legendary Tales" αποτελεί έναν από τους καλύτερους δίσκους όχι μόνο της συγκεκριμένης δεκαετίας αλλά, ολάκερης της heavy metal ιστορίας.

Οι επόμενοι δίσκοι τους (μέχρι και το album "Power of the Dragonflame") κράτησαν το ενδιαφέρον μου, αλλά από κάποιο σημείο και μετά άρχισα να τους "χάνω", αν και τους παρακολουθώ (εξ αποστάσεως μέχρι και τις ημέρες μας). Η μπάντα σχηματίσθηκε το 1993, τα δύο πρώτα χρόνια ως Thundercross. Το 1995 μετονομάσθηκαν σε Rhapsody και το καλοκαίρι του 2006 σε Rhapsody of Fire για καθαρά νομικούς λόγους.

Παράλληλα, το 2011 ο Luca Turilli δημιούργησε τους Luca Turilli's Rhapsody (δύο δίσκοι, ένα live album, μία συλλογή και κάποια singles), ενώ μόλις πέρυσι (2023) διαλύθηκαν οι Turilli / Lione Rhapsody (ένας δίσκος συν δύο singles) που σχηματίσθηκαν το 2018. Μπερδευτήκατε;
