Τον Ιούνιο του 1996 τέσσερις νεαροί τσελίστες κυκλοφόρησαν το ντεμπούτο τους ("Apocalyptica Plays Metallica by Four Cellos") και... προκάλεσαν αναστάτωση στους heavy metal κύκλους. Γιατί; Διότι όλες οι συνθέσεις του album ήταν ορχηστρικές (instrumental) διασκευές σε τραγούδια των Metallica εκτελεσμένα με cellos (και μόνο)! Apocalyptica είναι το όνομα της μπάντας, η οποία συνεχίζει μέχρι τις ημέρες μας.

28 έτη μετά (φέτος δηλαδή), το ντεμπούτο των Apocalyptica βλέπει σε κυκλοφορία την... φυσική του συνέχεια. "Apocalyptica Plays Metallica Vol. 2" ο τίτλος και κυκλοφόρησε προ ημερών. Στο εγχείρημά τους μάλιστα συμμετέχουν και δύο μέλη των Metallica (ο James Hetfield και ο Robert Trujillo)...
