Το τραγούδι των Queensrÿche "Walk In The Shadows" το πρωτάκουσα μέσω της συλλογής της ΕΜΙ "Metal Thunder" που κυκλοφόρησε το μακρινό 1987 (και... "πετσόκοβε" το τραγούδι των Manowar "Battle Hymn", ακόμη το θυμάμαι). Οι επιλογές των τραγουδιών και η επιμέλεια της συλλογής ανήκαν στον Γιάννη Κουτουβό.

Το "Walk In The Shadows" αφενός θα μπορούσε κάλλιστα να αποτελεί μέρος του (εκπληκτικού) δίσκου "The Warning" (ως προς το μουσικό του ύφος) και αφετέρου αποτέλεσε την τέλεια μετάβαση από το μελαγχολικό - ατμοσφαιρικό - λυρικό έπος του "The Warning" στην πιο προοδευτική (prograssive) διάθεση του "Rage for Order".

Το τραγούδι αποτελεί μέρος του δίσκου - σταθμού της Αμερικάνικης μπάντας "Rage for Order" που κυκλοφόρησε τον Ιούνιο του 1986 (για την ακρίβεια, το εναρκτήριο μουσικό κομμάτι). Ο Chris DeGarmo είχε πει το μακρινό 1991 στο περιοδικό RIP (στο τεύχος Οκτωβρίου):

«That was our delving into vampirism: 'By day we'll live in a dream / Walk with me, and we'll walk in the shadows.' It's talking about joining the dark side. This song is also about infatuation.

It's speaking to a woman: 'You're through with me, I'm not through with you / We've had what others might call love / You can't stay away, you need me like I need you / When the fire starts, the pain's too much for your mind.'

We were all reading the Vampire Chronicles around that time. Our music has always had a sort of dark flavor to it. Even when we write a love song, it's usually obsessive in nature.»
