Περίεργη περίπτωση ο δίσκος "The House of Blue Light". Να ξεκαθαρίσω εξ αρχής ότι τον λατρεύω παρότι ακόμη και το συγκρότημα φαίνεται να έχει διαφορετική άποψη (από την δική μου). Χαρακτηριστικές οι δηλώσεις τριών από τους συντελεστές του δίσκου...

Ian Gillan: «I look back at House Of Blue Light, there are some good songs on that record, but there’s something missing in the overall album. I can’t feel the spirit of this band.

I can see or hear five professionals doing their best, but it’s like a football team, it’s not functioning.

Ο δίσκος των Deep Purple "The House of Blue Light" κυκλοφόρησε στην αυγή του 1987. Το τραγούδι "The Spanish Archer" είναι από τα αγαπημένα μου όχι μόνο σε σύγκριση με τα υπόλοιπα του δίσκου, αλλά γενικότερα στην μεγάλη καριέρα των DP. Πως κελαηδάει έτσι η ρουφιάνα η κιθάρα στα χέρια του Ritchie! Από ότι διάβασα δεν το έχουν παίξει ποτέ "ζωντανά".
