Επαναφέρει, από πέρυσι, την προσωπική του καριέρα στο προσκήνιο ο Bruce Dickinson. Το φθινόπωρο κυκλοφόρησαν δύο συλλογές μέσω της BMG ("Tears of the Dragon - The Hits" 22 Σεπτεμβρίου 2023 και "Deep Cuts" 3 Νοεμβρίου 2023), ενώ τον Δεκέμβρη "βγήκε" το single "Afterglow of Ragnarok", το οποίο περιλαμβάνει το ομότιτλο τραγούδι συν την demo εκδοχή του μουσικού κομματιού "If Eternity Should Fail", το οποίο προετοίμαζε το έδαφος για το νέο full length album του Βρετανού τραγουδιστή (το πρώτο μετά το "Tyranny of Souls" του 2005) υπό τον τίτλο "The Mandrake Project".

Αποτελείται από δέκα τραγούδια [Afterglow of Ragnarok, Many Doors to Hell, Rain on the Graves, Resurrection Men, Fingers in the Wounds, Eternity Has Failed, Mistress of Mercy, Face in the Mirror, Shadow of the Gods, Sonata (Immortal Beloved)] και κυκλοφόρησε την πρώτη ημέρα της άνοιξης (1η Μαρτίου 2024) σε cd, βινύλιο και ψηφιακή μορφή μέσω της δισκογραφικής εταιρείας BMG Records, με το δελτίο τύπου να (μας) δίνει τις λεπτομέρειες:

«Entitled The Mandrake Project it sees him reunited with long-time musical collaborator and producer Roy Z. The Mandrake Project will be Dickinson’s seventh solo album and his first since Tyranny Of Souls in 2005.

The Mandrake Project is a dark, adult story of power, abuse and a struggle for identity, set against a backdrop of scientific and occult genius.»

Στον δίσκο ακούμε τον Bruce, τον Roy Z (Halford, Tribe of Gypsies, Rob Rock, Driver, ex-Warrior κλπ) σε κιθάρα, μπάσο και παραγωγή, τον Dave Moreno (των Tribe of Gypsies) στα τύμπανα και τον Mistheria (δηλαδή τον Giuseppe Iampieri) στα πλήκτρα (ήταν και στο album "Tyranny of Souls").

Ο Paul Bruce Dickinson είναι ενεργός από το δεύτερο μισό της δεκαετίας του εβδομήντα [βλ. Styx (όχι η γνωστή μπάντα), Speed, Shots]. Τα πρώτα "ψήγματα" αναγνωρισιμότητας τα αποκτά μέσω των Samson στους οποίους διατέλεσε τραγουδιστής από το 1979 έως το 1981.

Η υφήλιος όμως τον έμαθε ως την φωνή των Iron Maiden. Παράλληλα από το 1989 "τρέχει" και την προσωπική του καριέρα, στην οποία αφοσιώθηκε πλήρως από το 1993 όταν αποχώρησε από τους Maiden (για να επιστρέψει έξι χρόνια αργότερα).

Ο Bruce Dickinson έχει κυκλοφορήσει -στην solo καριέρα του- επτά "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, μία... ενδεκάδα singles, δύο live albums, τρεις βιντεοκασέτες (που τις θυμήθηκα;) - DVDs, δύο EPs, πέντε συλλογές και δύο boxed set...
