Μία κακόφημη οδός της Νέας Υόρκης, η 42η οδός (με το παρατσούκλι "Deuce"), ήταν η στιχουργική έμπνευση των Scorpions για το τραγούδι "The Zoo". Την επισκέφτηκαν το μακρινό 1979 και τους έκανε τεράστια εντύπωση, η οποία απεικονίζεται στους στίχους του Klaus Meine (η μουσική είναι του κιθαρίστα Rudolf Schenker).

Το τραγούδι ηχογραφήθηκε το διάστημα από τον Δεκέμβριο του 1979 έως τον Φεβρουάριο του 1980 και κυκλοφόρησε ως single κι ως μέρος του δίσκου "Animal Magnetism" τον Μάρτιο της ίδια χρονιάς. Η απόδοση του τραγουδιού της σημερινής ανάρτησης προέρχεται από την εμφάνιση της μπάντας στο Χιούστον στις 27 Ιουνίου του 1980.
