Το μακρινό 1985 ο κιθαρίστας Hank Shermann δημιούργησε -μετά την (προσωρινή όπως αποδείχθηκε) διάλυση των Mercyful Fate- τους Fate, οι οποίοι κινήθηκαν σε πιο μελωδικά - εμπορικά μονοπάτια. Με την επιστροφή των Mercyful Fate το 1993 οι Fate διαλύθηκαν (επίσης προσωρινά) με απολογισμό τέσσερις "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, δύο EPs και πέντε singles.

Οι Fate επανήλθαν το 2004 και συνεχίζουν μέχρι τις ημέρες μας (αν και είναι ανενεργοί δισκογραφικά την τελευταία δεκαετία) προσθέτοντας στην δισκογραφική τους συγκομιδή ακόμη τρία full length albums συν μία συλλογή. Και τα τρία θα επανακυκλοφορήσουν από την Frontiers Music srl την 1η Δεκεμβρίου 2023.

Ως προς τον δίσκο "V", που κυκλοφόρησε το 2006 και σηματοδότησε την επιστροφή τους, θα υπάρχουν και δύο επιπλέον (bonus) τραγούδια σε σχέση με τα ένδεκα (11) της αρχικής έκδοσης: το "Sweet Angel" και το "Bleed".
