Στα τελειώματα του φθινοπώρου του 1988 οι Manowar κυκλοφορούν τον έκτο "ολοκληρωμένο" δίσκο τους υπό τον τίτλο "Kings of Metal", το οποίο ακολούθησε το album "Fighting the World" (για να παραδώσει την σκυτάλη στο "The Triumph of Steel", αλλά αυτό δεν είναι της παρούσης).

Τελευταίο τραγούδι του δίσκου (το οποίο "κονταροχτυπιέται" με το "Heart of Steel" και το "The Crown and the Ring" για τον άτυπο τίτλο του καλύτερου) είναι το "Blood of the Kings". Αποτελεί ένα από τα αρτιότερα συνθετικά δείγματα γραφής του Αμερικάνικου σχήματος.

Η επανηχογράφηση του 2014 (για τον δίσκο "Kings of Metal MMXIV") διαρκεί μισό λεπτό περισσότερο καθώς προστέθηκαν στίχοι, για την ακρίβεια... χώρες (μεταξύ αυτών και η Ελλάδα)...
