Οι First to Eleven είναι μπάντα διασκευών. Μας έρχεται από την Πενσυλβάνια, σχηματίσθηκε πριν από 14 έτη (το 2009), έχει κυκλοφορήσει διψήφιο αριθμό δίσκων και μας παρουσιάζεται κάπως έτσι:
Ανάμεσα στις διασκευές βρίσκουμε και τον ύμνο των Metallica "For Whom The Bell Tolls". Ένας Αμερικανός καθηγητής, ο Ρόμπερτ Τζόρνταν, εγκαταλείπει την ευκολία της ζωής του και την πατρίδα του και ταξιδεύει στην Ισπανία για να υπερασπιστεί την δημοκρατία στον (Ισπανικό) εμφύλιο πόλεμο. Πόλεμος, μάχες, έρωτας (με μία αντάρτισσα) και -εν τέλει- θάνατος για τον καθηγητή, ο οποίος υπάκουσε στην αίσθηση του καθήκοντος κι όχι στο ένστικτο της επιβίωσης ή τα προτάγματα της καρδιάς.
Αυτή είναι (σε πολύ γενικές γραμμές) η περίληψη του λογοτεχνικού έργου του Έρνεστ Χέμινγουεϊ "Για ποιον χτυπά η καμπάνα" ("For whom the bell tolls") που κυκλοφόρησε το 1940. Το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο αποτέλεσε την έμπνευση για ένα από τα ωραιότερα τραγούδια που συνέθεσαν οι Metallica.
Το τραγούδι συμπεριλήφθηκε στον δεύτερο δίσκο της Αμερικάνικης μπάντας "Ride the Lightning" (τρίτο τραγούδι της πρώτης πλευράς του βινυλίου), ο οποίος κυκλοφόρησε τον Ιούλιο του 1984...
