Μετά την κυκλοφορία του ομώνυμου ντεμπούτου τους (το οποίο όρισε ουσιαστικά ένα νέο μουσικό ιδίωμα) οι Black Sabbath ηχογράφησαν (την ίδια χρονιά) στα "Regent Sound Studios" του Λονδίνου τον διάδοχό του, υπό τον τίτλο "War Pigs".

Η δισκογραφική εταιρεία τους ζήτησε ένα επιπλέον τραγούδι με τους Sabbs να μην έχουν κάποιο έτοιμο πέραν του "Paranoid", το οποίο δεν ήταν από τα... αγαπημένα τους! Τελικά όχι μόνο μπήκε στον δίσκο, όχι μόνο "βάφτισε" τον δίσκο, αλλά έγινε και το πιο επιτυχημένο και αναγνωρίσιμο τραγούδι τους. Τα υπόλοιπα είναι (heavy metal) ιστορία...
