Ένα από τα πλέον ενδιαφέροντα νέα σχήματα που κυκλοφορούν εκεί έξω, οι Sanhedrin, επέστρεψαν δισκογραφικά μετά από τρία χρόνια μέσω νέας δισκογραφικής εταιρείας (Metal Blade Records). Το νέο πόνημα του Αμερικάνικο τρίο φέρει τον τίτλο "Lights On" και κυκλοφόρησε τον περασμένο Μάρτη.

Οι Sanhedrin μας έρχονται από την Νέα Υόρκη. Δημιουργήθηκαν προ οκταετίας κι αρέσκονται στο κλασικό heavy metal. Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει το ομώνυμο ep (το 2015), το (τρομερό) full length album "A Funeral for the World" (το 2017) και τον διάδοχό του ("The Poisoner") προ τριετίας. Όσο για την προέλευση του ονόματός τους;

On this particular track, vocalist / bassist Erica Stoltz explains, "The pandemic put the unbridled excess of humanity on hold. The reference was a play on the term ‘correction’ as used in economics. The comparison is between the slow roll of global death by virus and other man-made instantaneous destructors like atomic bombs.”
Rounded out by Jeremy Sosville on guitars and drummer Nathan Honor, the band state, “In a time where the world around you feels like it’s aflame, when our heavy metal heroes are beginning to disappear to failing health or changing social norms, we, Sanhedrin, stand here as a shining light through the dark.

«I wrote the song about an archeological discovery in Russia late December 2019. A tomb was found with the skeletons of four Scythian women warriors aged 12 to 50. They had battle scars and were buried with weapons and horses. It was the best example of pre-Christian female identity I’ve ever seen. The song was my tribute to them, a way to bring their spirits into a new age, continue their story and show what women are able to do.»

«Με την ονομασία Σανχεντρίν φερόταν κατά τους βιβλικούς χρόνους τοπικό δικαστήριο των Εβραίων που έδρευε σε κάθε πόλη. Τα δικαστήρια αυτά ήταν 23μελή.
Το Μεγάλο Σανχεντρίν (Μεγάλο Συνέδριο), ήταν το ανώτατο εβραϊκό νομοθετικό και θρησκευτικό συμβούλιο που λειτουργούσε και ως δικαστήριο το οποίο είχε έδρα την Ιερουσαλήμ, και αποτελούσε τη μεγαλύτερη θρησκευτική αυθεντία του Ιουδαϊσμού στην όλη περιφέρεια της Γης του Ισραήλ, ιδιαίτερα κατά τους ελληνιστικούς χρόνους.
Το συνέδριο αυτό συγκροτούταν από τον πρόεδρο που έφερε τον πριγκιπικό τίτλο "Νάση" ή "Νασί", τον μεγάλο Αρχιερέα, τους δύο αντιπροέδρους τον Αμπ-Μπεϊτ-Ντιν και τον Χαμάμ και 67 άλλα μέλη.
Το Μεγάλο Σανχεντρίν συνεδρίαζε εκτός εορτών και Σαββάτων. Η ίδρυση του Σανχεντρίν εντοπίζεται στην εποχή της βασιλείας του Αντιόχου Δ' του Επιφανούς, περί το 200 π.Χ. Η δε ονομασία Σανχεντρίν (Συνέδριον) εμφανίζεται περί το 1ο αιώνα π.Χ. Μετά την καταστροφή της Ιερουσαλήμ, που συνέβη το 70 (μ.Χ.), έπαψε και η λειτουργία του.
Κατ' άλλους καταληκτικό έτος θεωρείται το 358, όπου προσδιορίζεται η τελευταία δεσμευτική απόφαση που αφορούσε την έκδοση του Εβραϊκού ημερολογίου, ενώ τέλος κατ' άλλους το 425 όπου διατάχθηκε η διάλυσή του με σχετικό διάταγμα του αυτοκράτορα Θεοδοσίου Β», μας πληροφορεί η wikipedia.
