Στο μεταίχμιο δύο χιλιετιών τρία από τα μέλη του "μυθικού" "Holy Land" των Angra (το αηδόνι Andre Matos, ο drummer Ricardo Confessori και ο μπασίστας Luís Mariutti) συν τον (αδερφό του, Luís) Hugo Mariutti στην κιθάρα και τον Fabio Ribeiro (έπαιζε πλήκτρα στις συναυλίες των Angra) δημιούργησαν τους Shaman (από το σχετικό τραγούδι του "Holy Land").
Το ντεμπούτο τους ("Ritual") που κυκλοφόρησε το καλοκαίρι του 2002 ήταν η φυσική εξέλιξη του και η συνέχεια του "Holy Land". Η συνέχεια δόθηκε τρία χρόνια αργότερα με το αρκετά διαφοροποιημένο (αλλά εξίσου εντυπωσιακό) "Reason". Για έναν χρόνο μετονομάσθηκαν σε Shaaman, αλλά επανήλθαν στο αρχικό τους όνομα κυκλοφορώντας ακόμη δύο στουντιακούς δίσκους.
Η μπάντα διαλύθηκε προ οκταετίας (2014) κι επανασυνδέθηκε τέσσερα χρόνια αργότερα (2018) κυκλοφορώντας μόνο singles, έξι στο σύνολο (τρία πέρυσι και άλλα τόσα φέτος). Τον ρόλο του Andre Matos (R.I.P.) σε φωνητικά και πιάνο ανέλαβε ο Alírio Netto.
Όλα αυτά οδηγούν σε νέο δίσκο. Η δισκογραφική επιστροφή των Shaman μετά από δώδεκα χρόνια φέρει τον τίτλο "Rescue" κι έχει προγραμματισθεί να κυκλοφορήσει στα μέσα Απριλίου σε ψηφιακή μορφή και έναν μήνα αργότερα σε φυσική μορφή μέσω τεσσάρων δισκογραφικών εταιρειών...

“Rescue” will be released on streaming platforms on April 15th and the physical CD will be distributed in Brazil by Voice Music, in Argentina by Icarus Music, in Europe by Maldito Records and in Japan by King Records. The cover of “Rescue” was designed by artist Carlos Fides, who has already signed works by names such as Edu Falaschi and Noturnall.
The album was produced by Sascha Paeth and features violinist Marcus Viana. The songs of “Rescue” are authored by all the members. The lyrics address losses and the stages of grief, but not in a negative way, according to Alirio Netto. Hugo Mariutti (guitar), Luis Mariutti (bass), Ricardo Confessori (drums) and Fábio Ribeiro (keyboards) impeccably followed the Shaman’s legacy.
About the clip, director Thiago Kiss commented:
“When Alirio called me and asked to do the new Shaman video I felt it was going to be a challenge. Before recording the video, I asked Alirio to send me audios explaining the concept of the lyrics. After that, I invited actor Gustavo Merighi, who did a great job and helped me get immersed in Alirio’s lyrics, music and audio. The actor had real feelings for the lyrics and we were able to find a unique and cinematic concept for this new Shaman song. I believe we arrived at the right point and that shows all the quality of the music”.

“Thiago Kiss managed to capture the essence of the song perfectly and transformed the video from scratch into something very beautiful. “The “I” Inside” is very important for this Shaman comeback and the lyrics portray very well what is in the clip.
