Deep Purple - '7 And 7 Is' (German TV Rehearsal Take 1)
When I was a boy I thought
About the times I'd be a man
I'd sit inside a bottle
And pretend that I was in a can
In my lonely room I'd sit my mind
In an ice cream cone
You can throw me if you wanna
Cause I'm a bone and I go
Oop-ip-ip oop-ip-ip, yeah!
If I don't start cryin'
It's because that I have got no eyes
My father's in the fireplace
And my dog lies hypnotized
Through a crack of light
I was unable to find my way
Trapped inside a night
But I'm a day and I go
Oop-ip-ip oop-ip-ip, yeah!

Album διασκευών είναι το νέο δισκογραφικό πόνημα των Deep Purple. Φέρει τον τίτλο "Turning To Crime" και κυκλοφόρησε στα τέλη Νοεμβρίου. Το εναρκτήριο τραγούδι ("7 And 7 Is") αποτελεί σύνθεση του Arthur Lee για λογαριασμό της μπάντας του (Love). Πρωτοκυκλοφόρησε ως single τον Ιούλιο του 1966 (με το "No. Fourteen" στην δεύτερη πλευρά του βινυλίου) και ως μέρος του δίσκου "Da Capo" που "βγήκε" λίγους μήνες αργότερα (Νοέμβριος 1966). Παρακολουθούμε το βίντεο μίας διαφορετικής (από αυτής στον δίσκο) εκδοχής του τραγουδιού, για την οποία το δελτίο τύπου μας λέει:
«This previously unreleased version of “7 And 7 Is” was recorded by Deep Purple in November 2021, during their promotional and press tour of Germany, for the band’s latest album 'Turning To Crime'.
It was during this same trip that the band filmed the music video for their version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well”. So eager to play, the band had their live rig pulled together and set up in a large warehouse, with cameras only being allowed in for this rendition of the track “7 And 7 Is”.
In truth, nobody really knows what the band played in the hours during which they were in that room, as no access was given to anybody other than their trusted sound engineer. However, this recording is a testimony of this first auspicious meeting and marks the moment where, after almost two years, the band played live again in the same room.
“Turning to Crime” is the first studio album by Deep Purple entirely made of songs not written by the band and previously recorded by other artists.»
