Validor - 'The Ten Thousand' (lyric video)
“In 401 B.C., after the greatest civil war on Greece , an army of 10.000 (actually were 14.000) Greek mercenaries, set off to help a rebellious foreign general named Cyrus in Persia.
Near Babylon, they learn that the true reason for this march was that Cyrus wanted to attack his brother, the King of the Persian empire. It was too late for them to deny following him.
So, after few days two armies (on one side Cyrus with 200.000 Persian soldiers and the Greeks and on the other the king with the whole Persian army) fought a massacre battle in which the Greeks defeated everyone who stood against them.
After the battle, the Greeks returned to the camp singing victorious songs, knowing not that Cyrus was fell on the battlefield and his soldiers had joined the king.
When they realised the situation (without money, without food, alone, thousand miles away from home), they explained to the king that they didn’t ever want to harm him, nothing to claim from him and the only thing that they wanted was to return to their homeland.
The king agreed to supply them food so they could return and deceitfully on the time of the pact, Persians stayed the unarmed greek generals.
Then the “Ten Thousand” swore to the Gods that they will return home and after two years crossing hostile lands, countless enemies, burning deserts, impenetrable and snowy mountains with only friend their courage and their weapons, they managed to reach the sea - their home, having succeeded: a few men to stood against millions”.

Έτοιμοι να μας προσφέρουν νέο υλικό μετά από μία εξαετία είναι ο Validor. Ο διάδοχος του album "Hail to Fire" (τυπικά πρόκειται για τον διάδοχο του ντεμπούτου "In Blood in Battle", το οποίο επανηχογραφήθηκε και κυκλοφόρησε πέρυσι) τέταρτος "ολοκληρωμένος" δίσκος των Ελλήνων metallers φέρει τον τίτλο "Full Triumphed" κι έχει προγραμματισθεί να κυκλοφορήσει στις αρχές Φεβρουαρίου.
Το έδαφος προετοιμάζει το lyric video του τραγουδιού "The Ten Thousand", το οποίο αναφέρεται στην "Κάθοδος των μυρίων" (βλ. το γνωστό έργο του Ξενοφώντος "Κύρου Ανάβασις" που ενέπνευσε έργα όπως το έργο επιστημονικής φαντασίας "Star Guard" του Andre Norton ή το μυθιστόρημα "The Ten Thousand" του Michael Curtis Ford ή ακόμη και το κινηματογραφικό έργο "The Warriors" που μεταφέρει -υπό μία έννοια- τα γεγονότα της ιστορία του Ξενοφώντος στην σύγχρονη Νέα Υόρκη)...

Having already released three studio albums: “In Blood In Battle” (2011), “Dawn Of The Avenger” (2012) and “Hail To Fire” (2016) and the re-issue of their debut album in 2020, it is about time to move on to their next chapter.
“Full Triumphed” continues the epic journey of Validor! The band is led by guitarist/singer/songwriter Odi “Thunderer” Toutounis and once again we get 9 new chapters telling stories of War, Ancient Greek Heroes, Roman Gladiators, Gods & Demons and even iconic 80’s culture legends like the “Silverhawks” or Robocop on the track “Man Of Steel”!
Musically we got the epic storytelling of bands like Virgin Steele and Bathory, the raw power and big sound of Manowar are here combined with the galloping guitars of Iced Earth, plus the Dorian melodies of Running Wild and Blind Guardian and even some thrash and speed metal passages to form the truly unique sound of Validor: Blood Metal!
In the words of Bob Katsionis:
“I’ve been working with Odi since 2009. While looking like a guy who listens to nothing by Manowar, Odi carries a background of musical influences spanning from early Black Metal to Greek composers like Manos Hadjidakis or Basil Poledouris and from King Diamond to Death, Kreator, and Megadeth! So, making music with a guy with such an open mind and a clear target of what he wants to achieve, is nothing but a pleasure. His sense of melody and groove is also second to none! I also admire his desire to sing the songs all by himself even if he’s not your typical “epic metal singer”. The way he spits out every word is so meaningful and powerful that it could not be replaced by anyone. And for me, this is what makes projects like Validor so special through time.”
Producer Bob Katsionis handles the lead guitar, bass, and keyboard duties once more and the line-up is completed by drummer Apollo Giannoulis. Artwork was once again made by Kostas Tsiakos also responsible for some great art behind Warlord, Born Of Fire, Dexter Ward and many more.»

«Δουλεύω με τον Odi από το 2009. Ενώ φαίνεται ένας τύπος που δεν ακούει τίποτα άλλο εκτός από Manowar, ο Odi κουβαλά ένα υπόβαθρο μουσικών επιρροών που εκτείνονται από το πρώιμο Black Metal μέχρι τους Έλληνες συνθέτες όπως ο Μάνος Χατζιδάκις ή ο Βασίλης Πολυδούρης και από τον King Diamond ως τους Death, τους Kreator, και τους Megadeth! Έτσι, το να κάνεις μουσική με έναν άνθρωπο τόσο ανοιχτόμυαλο και με ξεκάθαρο στόχο ως προς το τι θέλει να πετύχει, δεν μπορεί παρά να είναι ευχαρίστηση. Η αίσθηση της μελωδίας και του groove που έχει είναι πραγματικά απαράμιλλη! Θαυμάζω επίσης την επιθυμία του να τραγουδήσει τα τραγούδια ο ίδιος, ακόμα κι αν δεν είναι ο τυπικός "epic metal τραγουδιστής". Ο τρόπος που εκφέρει κάθε λέξη είναι τόσο ουσιαστικός και δυνατός που δεν θα μπορούσε να αντικατασταθεί από κανέναν. Και για μένα, αυτό είναι που κάνει σχήματα όπως οι Validor τόσο ξεχωριστά μέσα στο χρόνο».
