Το 2008 σχηματίσθηκαν στην Γερμανία οι Gravety. Τυπικά ως έτος ίδρυσης αναφέρεται το 2009, η χρονιά που αποφάσισαν το όνομα της μπάντας. Συγκρότημα επικού heavy metal, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε το 2012 το ντεμπούτο του υπό τον τίτλο "Into the Grave".
Εννέα έτη μετά επιστρέφουν δισκογραφικά. Το δεύτερο full length album των Γερμανών metallers φέρει τον τίτλο "Bow Down" κι αναμένεται τον επόμενο μήνα. Το εξώφυλλο είναι δημιουργία του Maestro Velio Josto κι είναι εμπνευσμένο από την τηλεοπτική ταινίας Conan the Barbarian (με τον Arnold Schwarzenegger στον πρωταγωνιστικό ρόλο).
Σύμφωνα με τον δημιουργό: «Yes, it's the pose of Conan on the throne, it's a Kevin / Gravety's agreeable idea, any problem?! If yes, you can see I did portrait you also, down on the right, in a golden basin.»
Το έδαφος για την κυκλοφορία του "Bow Down" προετοιμάζει το βίντεο του τραγουδιού "Carry On the Flame", για το οποίο οι Gravety μας λένε ότι: «it tells a tale that could have been a Robert E. Howard story and is dedicated to the father of Epic Metal Mark Shelton.»
Bio: «Back in the summer of the year 2008, five metalheads met for the first time. Their names are Kevin Portz (vocals), Gernot Gebhard (guitar), Philipp Albert (guitar), Simon Schmitt (bass) and Lukas Didion (drums). Simon and Kevin knew each other from highschool and played cover songs since then. Soon they wanted to write their own songs.
The direction was clear: Heavy Metal. They had to find the right people, which led to the befriended guitar duo Phil and Gernot. Soon Lukas crossed their path. In the ides of march 2009, they had found their name: GRAVETY - this consists of grave - mankind’s destiny is clear, we will all end in a grave eventually - and gravity, heaviness.
They rehearsed and started to write songs. One of their first songs was named "Keeper of Souls", which they recorded in an old cinema. This track already showed their interest in fantastic themes, supernatural and horror.
After playing a lot of shows in Germany, organizing the Thrash’n’Doom Fest with epic doom masters WHEEL, thrash metal maniacs GODSLAVE and french doomheads SURTR, they crossed the border to France and brought their fascinating live show to Nancy to zombify also french metal fans.
2011 they decided to record their first full length album “INTO THE GRAVE” in the SU2 studios together with Phil Hillen. Right before the release of the album they played a big show at Metal Carnival and heated up the crowd for POWERWOLF.
The release show with ex-IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di’Anno was a full success. Many shows followed, but then family plans, the spatial distance of a band member and career changes led to a pause. In 2019 the supernatural entity, known as Cryptor, has risen from the river Saar. Bound to an old grudge he was imprisoned under the water.
He was feared in many dimensions and in many forms. Now, that he managed to break his chains, he is restless for the right time to haunt the earth again. He chose the guys from GRAVETY as his bearers of steel. Fueled with power from Cryptor, the undead quintet started to write and record new songs.
Cryptor gave the direction: Epic Heavy Metal with songs that lure the listener into a world of sword and sorcery. Once he was a barbarian king and now he wants his tales told through GRAVETY. With new strength the band then recorded “BOW DOWN” between 2019 and 2021 in Tortuga studio owned by Gernot Gebhard. The first chapter has been written... and it’s an order: BOW DOWN!»
