1977. Οι Rainbow στην καλύτερη φάση της καριέρας τους. Έχουν κυκλοφορήσει τους δύο "μυθικούς" πρώτους δίσκους τους ("Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" 1975, "Rising" 1976) συν το εξαιρετικό live album "On Stage" το καλοκαίρι του 1977.

Τον Οκτώβριο εκείνης της χρονιάς βρέθηκαν στην Γερμανία (Μόναχο) για συναυλία. Το τραγούδι "Kill the King" το γνωρίσαμε στο "On Stage" (το εναρκτήριο κομμάτι), ενώ η στουντιακή του μορφή θα "έβγαινε" τον επόμενο χρόνο (βλ. τον δίσκο "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" - Απρίλιος 1978).

Πρόκειται για ένα από τα πλέον γρήγορα τραγούδια των Rainbow, οι στίχοι του οποίου (σύμφωνα με τον Dio) αναφέρονται σε μία παρτίδα σκάκι. Με αυτό το μουσικό κομμάτι ξεκινούσαν τις συναυλίες τους από το 1976 μέχρι και το 1979...

Στο βίντεο βλέπουμε (και ακούμε) τον Ritchie Blackmore στην κιθάρα, τον Ronnie Dio στα φωνητικά, τον Cozy Powell στα τύμπανα, τον Bob Daisley στο μπάσο και τον David Stone στα πλήκτρα / keyboards.
