Fortress: αρκετά κοινό όνομα για heavy metal συγκρότημα. Υπάρχουν (ή υπήρξαν) καμιά δεκαριά μπάντες εξ' Αμερικής με το συγκεκριμένο όνομα. Ετούτοι της συγκεκριμένης ανάρτησης μας έρχονται από την Καλιφόρνια. Έδρασαν στην δεκαετία του ογδόντα κυρίως συναυλιακά (παίζοντας μαζί με μπάντες όπως οι Poison, Warrant, Alcatrazz, Malice, Heaven κλπ).
Δισκογραφικά δεν κατάφεραν να κυκλοφορήσουν κάτι παρότι είχαν αρκετά ηχογραφημένα τραγούδια. Το "κενό" καλύφθηκε στις αρχές του έτους με την κυκλοφορία του δίσκου "Waiting for the Night", ο οποίος περιλαμβάνει όλα τα τραγούδια των Fortress που συνετέθησαν από το 1984 έως το 1988 και ηχογραφήθηκαν το 1989 εκτός του "Time to Tell" (ηχογραφήθηκε το 1985) και το live "Rock is My Life (Won't Let Go)" (το 1988). Το δεύτερο μάλιστα υπάρχει μόνο στο cd και όχι στην ψηφιακή μορφή του δίσκου...
Δελτίο τύπου: «Step back in time when 80's metal ruled the world! Fortress was one of the many bands dominating the Sunset Strip at that time. Pure hard rock in the vein of Iron Maiden, Whitesnake, Dio etc. The songs on this album were recorded in the late 80's, and never before released to the public.»
Fortress (about the song and the video): «Never Look Away is track $5 from the album Waiting For The Night. It was recorded over 30 years ago at various locations throughout Los Angeles. The video is comprised of still photos taken from fans throughout the mid to late 80's. Some of the photos have different guitarists as well as drummers as Fortress had various incarnations during their heydey. All in all, it's another great look back at the 80's on the Sunset Strip.»
