Οι Stud σχηματίσθηκαν στην Φινλανδία το μακρινό 1986. Παρέμειναν ενεργοί για μία τριετία κυκλοφορώντας ένα single δύο τραγουδιών στην μητρική τους γλώσσα ("Mä haluun elää / Viimeinen yö") το 1986. Το 1989 η μπάντα διαλύθηκε για να επιστρέψει το 2013 συνεχίζοντας μέχρι τις ημέρες μας.

Στην δεύτερη θητεία τους οι Stud έχουν κυκλοφορήσει τέσσερις "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους (συν μπόλικα singles). Ο τέταρτος και πλέον πρόσφατος τιτλοφορείται "War of Power" και "βγήκε" ψηφιακά τον περασμένο Νοέμβριο. Σε cd αναμένεται τις προσεχείς ημέρες.

Άξιο αναφοράς το ότι από την αρχική σύνθεση της μπάντας έχουν παραμείνει όλοι πλην του μπασίστα, την θέση του οποίου καλύπτει από το 2018 ο Jari Behm. Πρόκειται για τον μπασίστα των Stratovarius κατά τα έτη 1992 και 1993, χωρίς να κυκλοφορήσει κάτι μαζί τους...
