Το συγκρότημα Olÿphant μας έρχεται από την Μασαχουσέτη. Δημιουργήθηκε πριν από ένδεκα χρόνια κι αποκαλεί την μουσική του "Progressive NWOTHM from Massachusetts". Για την ακρίβεια μας παρουσιάζεται κάπως έτσι:
«Olÿphant [ol-uh-funt] was formed in 2009. The band draws from a unique amalgam of musical influences including 80s thrash, doom, classic, and modern progressive metal. Lyrically and thematically, the band draws heavily from horror movies, Tolkien, Stephen King, H.P Lovecraft, and a variety of other tales of the weird, wild, and unexplained.»

From the horrorscape synths of “The Great Old Ones” to the psychedelic doom of "The Conjuror" and the epic traditional heavy metal of “Deities & Demagogues," Olÿphant draws on a myriad of influences from across the metal spectrum for Destinies of the Soul.
Bound together by a twin guitar attack, atmospheric synths, a pummeling rhythm section, and the usual tales of the macabre delivered in melodic old-school metal fashion, “Destines of the Soul” will be a welcome addition to any metalhead's record collection.
"Destinies of the Soul" was largely self-recorded and self-produced by the band with drum engineering by Sean Cahalin (I Was Awake, Dropkick Murphys) at Q Division Studios in Somerville, MA, and mixing by Brian Scheuble (Anthrax, Kiss, Mötley Crüe) in San Diego, CA. "Destinies of the Soul" is dedicated to the memory of Dave Clarkson for supporting this project and keeping the dream alive.»
