Την πρώτη τους συλλογή θα κυκλοφορήσουν σε λίγες ημέρες οι Metal Church. Φέρει τον τίτλο "From the Vault" και περιλαμβάνει τέσσερα νέα τραγούδια της Αμερικάνικης μπάντας, πέντε μουσικά κομμάτια που "περίσσεψαν" από τον τελευταίο τους δίσκο "Damned If You Do", τρεις διασκευές (σε Nazareth, Sugarloaf, Ram Jam) και δύο "ζωντανά" ηχογραφημένα στην Ιαπωνία.
Οι Metal Church δημιουργήθηκαν το 1980 στο San Francisco από τον Kurdt Vanderhoof. Φημολογείται πως ένα από τα τότε μέλη (το 1981) ήταν και ο drummer των Metallica, Lars Ulrich. Μετά το demo "Red Skies" η μπάντα διαλύεται και ο Kurdt επιστρέφει στην γενέτειρά του σχηματίζοντας τους Shrapnel. Το 1983 τους μετονόμασε σε Metal Church και... το τραίνο μπήκε στις ράγες.
Το συγκρότημα παραμένει ενεργό μέχρι τις ημέρες μας (με αρκετά διαλείμματα). Οι Metal Church έχουν κυκλοφορήσει δώδεκα full length δίσκους, τρία live albums, δώδεκα singles και εννέα demos. Αξίζει να σημειωθεί πως σήμερα κυκλοφορεί το Boxed set "The Elektra Years 1984-1989", το οποίο περιλαμβάνει τα τρία πρώτα albums της Αμερικάνικης μπάντας...

Metal Church is credited as a formative influence on the thrash / metal subgenre, melding the aesthetics of the new wave of British heavy metal and American hard rock. Early lyrical topics, such as conflict and paranoia, later expanded into philosophical and social commentary.»
