Ezra Brooks - "Gods, Men, and Death" (demo)
Οι Ezra Brooks είναι το προσωπικό σχήμα (στην κυριολεξία του όρου καθώς πρόκειται για one man's band) του Shawn Vincent (ο κιθαρίστας των Smoulder και μπασίστας των Gatekrashör, ενώ έπαιξε μπάσο και στο τρομερό ντεμπούτο των Manacle, "No Fear to Persevere...").
Οι Ezra Brooks δείχνουν ιδιαίτερα δραστήριοι δισκογραφικά φέτος. Τον Ιανουάριο κυκλοφόρησαν το split "Visions of Power" μαζί με τους Emblem, ενώ προ ημερών "έβγαλαν" σε ψηφιακή μορφή και σε κασέτα το demo "Gods, Men, and Death"...
S. Vincent: «I was inspired to write “Age Of The Mabden” after my first foray into Micheal Moorcock’s multiverse via “The Knight Of The Swords”. I imagined the chorus riff (that I unintentionally lifted from Angels Witch’s “Sweet Danger”) and vocal melodies in my head whilst labouring away in a warehouse back in 2015.
During another place in time it would have been released by an alternate thunderous power, but it is the time of the conjunction of the million spheres, and all things are possible... The next tale in the cycle is that of the “Omnipotent Destroyer”. In which Ezra is called upon to aid and release a distant world from the torturous grip of an invincible god using the time altering powers of her mysterious amulet...
Side A of “Gods, Men, and Death” is rounded off by a quick Slough Feg cover from their sacrosanct album “Atavism”. Those who procure a physical copy of the demo will be cursed with the bonus track “Darkblack Starlight”. The name refers to themes that will be found on the title track of an eventual full length album.
It is an instrumental track influenced by the works of Jim Kirkwood that was hastily constructed shortly before the production of the cassettes and I have since grown dissatisfied with how it turned out. Therefore it will remain a cassette exclusive and a revised version may or may not see the light day again on a future Ezra Brooks release, or a separate project. Only time will tell...»
