Το 2003 δημιουργήθηκαν στην Ιταλία οι Nanowar σατιρίζοντας το "true metal" (κυρίως τους Manowar). Τρία χρόνια αργότερα μετονομάσθηκαν σε Nanowar of Steel "τρολάροντας" τους Rhapsody, οι οποίοι μετονομάσθηκαν (την ίδια χρονιά) σε Rhapsody of Fire. Χρησιμοποιώντας τα κλισέ των Manowar αυτοχαρακτηρίζονται ως "the TRUEST metal band in the known universe".
Στην δεκαπενταετή καριέρα τους έχουν κυκλοφορήσει τέσσερις "ολοκληρωμένους" δίσκους, δύο demos, τέσσερα singles, ένα ep κι ένα live album.
