Το 1981 δημιουργήθηκαν οι Tyrant. Κυκλοφόρησαν δύο demos και -την ίδια χρονιά- μετονομάσθηκαν σε Jag Panzer. (Το Tyrant "επέζησε" ως παρατσούκλι του Conklin.)

Παρθενικό δισκογραφικό βήμα της Αμερικάνικης μπάντας ήταν το single "Death Row" που κυκλοφόρησε -ως "επτάρι"- το 1983. Το τραγούδι το συναντάμε και στο ομώνυμο ep των Jag Panzer, στο "μυθικό" "Ample Destruction", στο ep "Tyrants" και στην συλλογή "Decade of the Nail-Spiked Bat". Με αυτό το τραγούδι ξεκίνησε ο μύθος τους...
